Inspired by archetypes of the collective unconscious and by themes, symbols and figures drawn from world mythologies, Joseph Moran ponders the mystery of life through his work. Birth, death and resurrection—the cyclical nature of living beings and things—is the primary leitmotif of his work. The works featured here on some level reference the human condition of suffering but also of transcendence. Additionally, the juxtaposition of the figures and objects within the works renders their symbolic meaning infinite, changeable, and elusive.

Joseph Moran lives and works in New Orleans, Louisiana. His work has been featured in exhibitions at major museums and is in the permanent collection of the New Orleans Museum of Art.
